I’ve seen my children grow into who they are today, and there is not a feeling in the world that matches what it means to be a mother. But amid the joy, there’s one narrative that never fails to inspire me—the story of single mothers.
According to the United States Census Bureau, about 20% of children live in a mother-only household as of 2023. On their own, single mothers navigate the challenges of parenthood, juggling multiple roles. From providing for their children’s needs to being their support system, single mothers do it all. It’s a relentless journey marked by sleepless nights, endless worries, and countless sacrifices.
One of the most admirable qualities of single mothers is their determination to give their children the best life despite financial obstacles that they may face being the sole breadwinners of their families. It’s reported that single mothers earn an average income of $51,168. That income is meant to sustain their entire household. Mothers work tirelessly to put food on the table, clothes on their children’s backs, and a roof over their heads.
