In my career in finance, I was no stranger to being the only woman in the room. It was a tough journey, one that required me to work twice as hard for less recognition and lower pay. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, women are paid on average 16.3% less than men.
I witnessed the same disparity across the globe, where women from all walks of life were continually disenfranchised, given fewer opportunities, and denied the voice they deserved. I couldn’t simply stand by and watch this injustice persist. I knew I had to be a part of the solution. This realization inspired me to create AngeLink, the world’s first female-powered crowdfunding platform, with the mission to connect, empower, and amplify the voices of women to improve the lives of millions.
The idea behind AngeLink was simple, but its potential impact was profound. I envisioned a global community where women could come together to support one another while addressing the pervasive gender inequality and economic disparity that continue to deprive women of a voice on a global scale. The gender pay gap, limited access to education, lack of economic opportunities, and societal expectations have held us back for far too long.
AngeLink is more than just a crowdfunding platform; it’s a movement that empowers women to pursue their dreams and overcome the obstacles that stand in their way. Our community provides a space for women to share their stories, seek financial assistance, and rally support when you need it most; such as: a sick child, an emergency, an unexpected medical problem or to fund a small business or a cause you believe in. By connecting women from diverse backgrounds and regions, AngeLink creates a network of strength and solidarity to raise money from your own friends, family and your community in life’s most important moments.
Building a crowdfunding platform from the ground up is a massive undertaking, especially when you’re striving to make it female-centric. I encountered skeptics who questioned the viability of such an endeavor and faced adversity from those who were resistant to change. The journey to launch AngeLink was marked by hundreds of late nights, tireless dedication, and an unwavering belief in our mission. The more obstacles I faced, the more determined I became.
I knew that AngeLink was not just a business venture but a way to drive social change and make the world a more equitable place for women. According to the United Nation’s 2023 progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, women occupy just 28.2% of workplace management positions, so it was crucial to gather a team of like-minded individuals who shared the same passion and commitment. Since our launch, AngeLink has had a profound impact on countless lives. Fundraisers have used our platform to pay for their education, launch businesses, support their families, and make names for themselves. The community we’ve built is a testament to the strength of women when we come together to support one another.
As we move forward, the mission remains as relevant and urgent as ever. We are committed to breaking down barriers that have held women back for far too long. With every life we impact, project funded, every voice amplified, and every woman empowered, we take a step closer to a world where gender equality is not just a dream but a reality.
