Friends and Family, An August Update: Because Anna Beth’s breast cancer is very aggressive, there have been a few pivots to her treatment plan that they would like to update you all on. Once the diagnosis was given in June, Kyle and Anna Beth had to quickly make a decision on a fertility option for their future; they proceeded with egg retrieval because of the harm cancer treatment can do to the reproductive process. This is a miraculous procedure giving them tremendous hope and a future-forward mentality. She then began radiation, but in the process - with severe and unrelenting pain - it was discovered that the cancer has weakened her bones and has eroded the hip bone even more and caused a crushed vertebrae. She underwent hip surgery mid-August and is slowly but steadily healing. This progression has caused her to be bedridden for weeks which, as you can imagine, takes its own toll.
