A Penny Saved Is A Kidney Earned

In September 2017, I received news that changed my life forever: I was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). This diagnosis was a shock and a huge adjustment, forcing me to adapt to new limits on my body and dreams. But in October 2018, I was given an incredible gift—my best friend selflessly donated a kidney to me, saving my life. That moment restored my hope and allowed me to envision a future again. The transplant was successful, and for several years, I enjoyed a second chance at life. Unfortunately, in February 2023, that precious gift began to slip away. My transplanted kidney went into rejection, leaving me once again in kidney failure. This setback has brought back the fears and financial strain I thought I’d left behind.
