This Christmas morning we woke up to Pita convulsing uncontrollably. She hadn’t had a seizure in almost 6 weeks (a record), so we thought we figured out the perfect cocktail of medication to keep her epilepsy in check. After 3 and a half hours of extreme cluster seizures (which is an intense violence I deeply hope you never have to witness) we finally took her to an emergency animal hospital which was fortunately open on Christmas Day.
I’m keeping the long story brief because frankly I’m so distraught and drained it’s painful to even think let alone type. But… she has been put under anesthesia and a medication drip for a minimum of 12 hours and might need to be kept under for up to 48 hours. The goal is to essentially give her brain a break to reboot, with her in a medically induced sleep and even cotton in her ears to eliminate all stimulation. She had a 104 fever (her brain is literally frying her body) and it has finally been brought down with the drip. Her vitals are stable. Bu...
