Hello there! I'm Nettie and that guy is Andy. And the short version is, between us we have two functioning kidneys. The problem: they are both in my gut at the moment. Andy is a colleague and friend of my husband Daniel (these Episcopal priests are a special kind of person and they need to stick together). He's been in kidney failure for over two years and needs a transplant. I have always supported organ donation - my brother Tom's life was saved by a heart transplant 20 years ago. When I heard Andy's story last spring, we started the crossmatching process and finally confirmed this autumn that I can donate to him! In addition to both functional kidneys being in my possession at the moment, my body happens to reside in North Carolina while Andy's is in Illinois.
