Terra Alice's Spinal Fusion Surgery & Recovery

Meet Terra Alice, my tiny warrior princess who has been battling since the day she was born prematurely in June of 2019. Terra has been diagnosed with Coffin-Siris Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects less than 1000 children worldwide. This syndrome has caused Terra to face global development delays, feeding issues, failure to thrive, and other health challenges, including a progressive form of scoliosis in the thoracic area. Despite the numerous Risser casts she has been in, her spine hasn't shown improvement, leading to the recommendation of spinal fusion surgery. To prepare for this life-changing procedure, Terra will undergo halo traction for 6 weeks at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, followed by the spinal fusion surgery, which will require an initial 2-month hospital stay.
