Catastrophic devastation in Maui Hawaii

After a full week deep in the Lahaina fire disaster- there are no words to describe how thousands of families were burned alive in their own homes and cars with no warning. Children did not know what to do and hid in their bedrooms and closed the door- they are still missing. That image never leaves my mind. Third Wave Volunteers are bringing 24 years of disaster experience to Maui, and letting the local people lead. We are there to serve them. After listening carefully to the local needs, another main note to mention is that the Indigenous Hawaiian people must be the leaders of this disaster- and they have led in an amazing way over these first ten days.
