Pelican Girls Book Printing and Distribution

Addison Jones is the 9th great-granddaughter of a Pelican Girl, one of the original female settlers of present-day Mobile, Alabama. But many don't know the Pelican Girls' story and how they shaped the families across the Gulf Coast. As part of her Eagle Scout project, Addison is taking on a mission that blends history, heritage, and heart. She has written a children’s book about the Pelican Girls: the courageous young women who traveled from Paris, France to present-day Mobile,AL in 1704 and helped shape the earliest roots of our community. Most students in Mobile County have never heard their story. Addison wants to change that. Her goal is simple but powerful: Place a copy of her Pelican Girls children’s book at elementary school libraries across the Mobile County Public School System.
