Becky's EMPD road to Victory

It always happens to someone else, until its you or someone you love. What was thought to be a mild skin disorder on May 2nd of this year, turned out to be a rare form of cancer that effects less than 300 people per year in the world. The cancer that currently threatens the love of my life is called Extramammary Pagets Disease. Due to the rarity and the fact that the doctors that have the best success rates are currently at MD Anderson in Texas and Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, we decided after much thought to go with Mayo, and were so glad we did. We had to wait from May to August for our first appointment and biopsy surgery which was no surprise given the complexity of this cancer. There are three different specialties involved that include Dermatology, OB/GYN, and Colorectal surgeons as well as Plastic surgery.
